Join the Club – New Canterbury Housing and Transport (CHAT) Club

Edit: This event was a great success – write-up posted here.

A few of us have got together and started the CHAT Club – where we discuss Canterbury Housing and Transport. We’ve been throwing the idea around for a while, but only recently sat down over an orange juice and decided to actually get it started.

Its vision is:

CHAT Club is an open forum for discussions on current and future housing and transport matters in the Greater Christchurch / Canterbury area. Anyone who has a professional or personal interest in discussing and learning about current and future housing and transport issues in Chch/Canty is welcome to contribute, including politicians, practitioners, developers, policy-makers, researchers, advocates, academics, and the interested general public.

We’ll be organising regular meet-ups, speakers, discussions etc. Our first event is 6pm this Monday (1 October 2018) at Bailie’s Bar in Edgeware, where we’ll be hearing former-mayor Garry Moore speaking about the history of the currently-under-construction Northern Corridor motorway. You can RSVP via facebook, or feel free to just turn up on the night.

The club is completely open invite so feel free to join via facebook. Some of the same people involved in this blog are also involved in CHAT Club so if you are reading this (and based in Canterbury) then chances are the group is for you. Feel free to sign up via the facebook group.

Hope to see some of you there on Monday.
